Life Drawing

I haven't been posting life drawing recently--- I went through a bit of a dry period, where everything I did just was not coming together! The challenge of contour and gesture AND line quality all in one was overwhelming, and I did one week where I did three extra life sessions plus class... I think I have just been worn down.

Over looking the drawings, they aren't terrible but I don't feel they are worthy of posting -- they almost became process work, hours and hours of just not getting it right until suddenly...

Last week just clicked.

I loved almost every drawing in my pad of last weeks life drawing class. I am actually a little in shock that I drew some of them, and I don't often surprise myself! It just shows that hard work does pay off and that I have gained a further understanding of putting the forms together.

ANYWAYS ENOUGH READING!!! ART:

I am just so pleased with all of these drawings :' )
Sketch done in class to be cleaned up as a contour drawing

2D design : Into the Deep

 HELLO!

The reason I haven't been posting a lot of other work is 1) my life drawing teacher keeps all of my projects -- (so if I forget to take a picture I don't see them for a while) 2) I have no camera right now
and 3 a lot of projects (for example in imaging systems) have to do with the portfolio.

I have had so much bad luck with Sheridan portfolio wise, I have decided to take EVERY PRECAUTION.
Not that I think anyone would do this --- but I am not posting anything portfolio related on my blog until after the portfolio is complete. I am working my bum off so don't you worry!

Anyways :

I guess it is pretty obvious I took advantage of this 2D design project.
We were to include an animal - so of course I chose a narwhal.
He told us to not bee too illustrative... but I showed him the roughs and he knew it is impossible to tell me to do that.
So I think I did well.

2D design - Autumn

This is a project we had for 2D design, boy did it take a long time to get all of the little details in.. but it was worth it for sure! Finally a piece I could be a little more creative with! With all of the school work and portfolio work, I am having trouble finding time for my own work, I will upload some stuff I have been working on as soon as I can.

This project's theme was "September, October, November". My initial thought was to jump into something like Remembrance day or a memorial of September 11th, something serious, that I could really represent well. However, as I was doing thumbnails, I became a little uncomfortable. I wanted to challenge myself to deal with a serious theme, but it just wasn't represented in the way I envisioned.
I switched to a general theme : Autumn.

I have always loved doing forests and thought this would be the perfect project to do a more illustrative piece!
We did a three colour process with gouache -- the first, was to be painted in greyscale (grayscale??? GRAY OR GREY) the next was using one colour mixed with white, and finally using the same colour mixed with grey.. gray?... :/

Anyways enjoy!

I AM SO SORRY

I have not blogged in like a bagillion years.
To be fair, one week was reading week, so that was the first break I have had since school started.
The next two weeks my only excuse is exhaustion and laziness haha -- so here are the last two weeks of life drawings!!
