Layout

Layout was one of the most difficult things I faced while putting together my Animation Portfolio this year. Even though I didn't make it into the program, my layout got top scores! While doing these drawings I realized how much I enjoy layout -- the backgrounds can be the most stunning parts of movies, and bringing even these simple room drawings to life was a lot of work yet a LOT of fun!

If changing the face of animation does not work out for me, I could definitely see myself doing layout and  concept work for films.  But that is just a backup!

I just applied for the art fundamental course at Sheridan, students already at Sheridan have a higher chance of making it into the school - wishing I knew that earlier, for I did not get in again, and my appeal did not go through. Now the program is practically full and wait-listed. Great.

Looks like another year of blah.

The Protector

The Protector

"The Protector" is a digital piece I have been working on for a couple of weeks. I was commissioned by my friend Nicole who needed something for her bathroom. She told me "Two girls, riding a snow leopard, on some rocks". This is my interpretation!

 This is while i was still working on it, she wanted the whole thing to be more like the background so I brought  snow and mist into the final piece to sort of tie it all together. She also wanted the leopard more cartoony... but i couldn't bare to part with the structure, in the final piece you can see some cartoonish elements in the fur design aswell as with the leopard's eyes.

Should find out about my appeal this week -- a little nervous but I decided if it doesn't work out I will just have to completely blow them away next year! 

Also on the plus side I have reunited with a lot of my friends who faded out or I was on bad terms with, so I am left feeling pretty furfilled tonight. I have A LOT of film ideas and I hope I can share some process work soon!
