Sheridan Animation Portfolio 2013

UPDATE: March 25th 2013 Accepted into Sheridan Animation Program!!
I hope that this portfolio will inspire and help anyone trying to get into Animation at Sheridan College.
It took me three years to get in, so no matter what if this is your dream keep fighting for it!
Best of luck to anyone applying, and I hope you enjoy!

~

As many of you may know this is my third year trying to get into the "Bachelor of Fine Arts : Animation" program at Sheridan College. It is a world renowned program and it has been my dream since I was in grade 2... seriously.

Last year I was very close to getting into the program, but after appealing and such it just didn't happen. Anyways, it is due Monday February 25th.  I am happy with how it turned out this year and I hope you all enjoy it!

The lighting is different in each picture because I took some in the morning (which had lovely natural light) then re-took them just now (for lots were blurry).

Layout, Life Drawing, and Animals OH MY!

I have quite a few things for you today, for I forgot to upload last weeks life drawing!!!
So included in this post are some cool layout drawings/painted renderings, Life Drawing, and some animal sketches from the zoo!

A rough layout of a new york style street scene from my imagination!
The entire painted version of the layout. Gouache on Illustration board!
 Life Drawing

Once again, we did contour relief studies in life drawing, we did a couple of warm up gestures, but not a satisfying amount at all.. something obscure like 7...
My favourite contour relief so far!!
Very quick head studies

Another contour relief pose,
Her head looks slightly big, though she did have a large head... hmm
Extra Life

Gestures -- One, Three and Five minutes long

Trying to use less gesture lines and do a speedy contour
-- Kind of like the shape this one makes!

Something about this one that I really like!

This woman must have been a dancer,
her movements were graceful and twists were seemingly impossible.

And bored during the breaks!
Zoo Animals

Unfortunately due to the cold weather, most of the animals at the Toronto Zoo, were not out and about, there were a few indoor pavilions, so there are a couple of good sketches.

A very sad Rino

A very bored hippo

These may have been the only happy animals.
White Tigers, there were three or four of them playing together
(Hence the gestures)

Huge crowd looking at the gorillas,
as soon as I have a view good enough to sketch,
this lovely fella decided it was time to move
... after like a half hour of staying still... jerk.

And finally the Alligator.
He may look a little lifeless...
but they just lay there... that is it.. with that sly grin..

Anyways!
I hope you enjoyed all of the art! Feel free to comment any time!
I am so exhausted from portfolioing.. its almost done...

soon.

Time to watch some Merlin, then hit the sheets!
