I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season! I am relieved, I got some time off of work to come home for the holidays and I've been busy drawing away.
So.. This is a big post! I've been frequent on my tumblr with these, but Blogspot does take a little more effort to upload and talk about each piece, so here it goes!
I've been receiving requests for commissions lately and I am ecstatic!
I have never been payed for artwork until now and it is so wonderful!
A bear adventure!
A quicker bear and landscape sketch when I first opened my new intous!
A commission for my friend Summer, who really loved the bear sketches and wanted one for her boyfriend!
My first commission!! A friend of a friend commissioned this drawing of him and his girlfriend!
I think this is a record.. I watched a good six seasons of doctor who in about a week.. while still going to work and drawing.. its a good show.
A Game of Thrones commission for my friend Claudie!
I got the Nausicaa manga compilation for christmas, and I love the colours used in his watercolour sketches and in the movie. So wonderful had to play around. It is definitely one of my favourite Ghibli films.
A secret Santa gift for my classmate Erika, She is so talented I was so worried she wouldn't like it! It is a character from an anime called : tanken driland
Doodless
Some character doodles, I am really trying to play with character design and get a little more comfortable. I'd also like to push and further my style.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed all of this artwork! I shall have more to come I am sure by the end of the break!!
It is finally done!! For digital tools we had to display our understanding of adobe premiere with a short film!
We had to include at least 3 coloured layouts, 3 seconds of animation, 3 transitions, 5 layer moves and 5 sound effects/music!!
I think it turned out pretty cool, the animation is choppy, but it was a lot of work to do this on top of all of our other assignments, I am pretty happy with it!! The song in the video is written by my boyfriend Adam :) (Such talent)
This Thursday I went to the doctor about my hand/wrist. Lately it had been hurting a lot while drawing and often going numb.... Turns out I have carpal tunnel. It really sucks and is one of the worst things that could happen. I am trying to take care of it by wearing a BEAST of a brace and icing it as much as I can. Hopefully it doesn't get worse. It is very frustrating but I am doing okay.
anyways...
Layout class is a little vague, but I do enjoy the homework. Here is my 3 panel layout assignment. We had to create a 3 panel story using the stage we created for the last assignment (http://www.sarahkieley.blogspot.ca/2013/10/layout-render-character-in-environment.html)
Hope you guys enjoyed it! These are done with pencil on paper then added a little bit of extra rendering on the computer. Thanks for taking a look! See you soon! -Sarah
Alright guys! Reading week has arrived!! Wow already!!
I have some rough and cleaned up animation to show you!! Yay!!
I have my book page turn and of course the marine animal! -- what animal do you think I did?
I think it is pretty obvious ;)
We could choose to clean up either our book animation or our marine animal. The book gave me a bit of trouble, but I am going to keep practising and hopefully get better :)
Book Page Turn - Rough Animation!
Marine Animal was a LOT of fun! I got to do an awesome background and animate a character!! We will be cleaning it up in digital tools, so I will re-upload a video in which the rough animation goes into the clean then into the coloured version!
Narwhal Clean Animation
Narwhal Rough Animation
My First Dope Sheets!!
Rough and Clean Animation on Paper!
One more cool thing to show you guys...
Panned Background!
One of the cool things about this project was doing the panned background! My teacher Michel Hannan really loved it, and she decided to make my background a "pre-set" for next year - meaning if anyone doesn't have time to make a background, they can use mine! So cool! So honoured!! I hope you enjoyed this post! We had a lot due this week - hands and feet, life drawing portfolio, animation! Wow! I had great time management and didn't stress too much! I have to get going to work now, but I shall post stuff over the week as I get things done! I also have a doctors appointment for my wrist/hand, so hopefully that will be fixed soon! Have a great weekend! -Sarah
Hey guys! I finally have some layout to show you! The teacher we have is very funny and nice, and you can tell he knows what he is doing.. the problem is he is very vague, so everyone in our year is just hoping we are handing in the right thing!
Anyways here is the final render and all of the steps I took to complete it! I hope you like it!!
Some initial idea sketches
Another idea (from inside the sub)
Planning and griding out the layout!
Thanks for reading! I will upload my storyboard work tomorrow, I forgot I got it back from the teacher! See you then! -Sarah
I have had a fever for a few days, and it has been pretty crappy, I haven't been in the mood to do anything. This morning I had to draw, so I did a quick concept layout of a harbour. (I really like the cat holding the fish) This was a really quick drawing, looking at a computer is making my headache worse unfortunately, and I have to go to work very soon -- I don't know how I am going to pull off customer service today hahaha Anyways, enjoy! Going to start doing some fanart for inspiration soon -- maybe Game of Thrones? Avatar the Last Air bender -- let me know what you'd like to see! -Sarah
UPDATE: March 25th 2013 Accepted into Sheridan Animation Program!! I hope that this portfolio will inspire and help anyone trying to get into Animation at Sheridan College. It took me three years to get in, so no matter what if this is your dream keep fighting for it! Best of luck to anyone applying, and I hope you enjoy! ~ As many of you may know this is my third year trying to get into the "Bachelor of Fine Arts : Animation" program at Sheridan College. It is a world renowned program and it has been my dream since I was in grade 2... seriously. Last year I was very close to getting into the program, but after appealing and such it just didn't happen. Anyways, it is due Monday February 25th. I am happy with how it turned out this year and I hope you all enjoy it! The lighting is different in each picture because I took some in the morning (which had lovely natural light) then re-took them just now (for lots were blurry). Sheridan Animation Portfolio 2013
