3 Variation Paintings & Form Rendering!

Hey Guys!
It has been a while since I have updated with some painting!
I forgot to upload my first project in painting class which was to render 8 different shapes with a light source in gouache. This is a teacher who love to give out Cs and I got a B so I guess I am alright with that mark. I screwed up the reflective light but otherwise I am okay with how they turned out!

Our second project was a LOT more interesting!!
We got to paint backgrounds!!
YES!
In this project we had to do a variety of Thumbnails for ideas, as well as tonal plans for the paintings!
The first of the three paintings was to do a flat tonal study (using black and white gouache),
simply breaking down the values of the layers!
The second painting was to add gradation (also using black and white gouache) and to get more detailed about the forms.
Thirdly we also used gradation and were able to add a third colour to the black and white gouache!

Anyways! I hope you guys enjoyed the paintings!
I will be back soon with more good stuff to see!

Character Design - Posing

Hey guys!
So for the last few weeks I've been working on character posing for character design class!
For this project we had to design an original character with a personality, and then draw that character in 8 different poses, and then do a nice clean up of those poses!

So here is Eloise!

Final Character Clean-up
Some roughs + Experimenting with cleaning up on paper.

Originally I was going to do my clean up with pencil on paper, but I decided I wanted to work on my digital line work instead! Character design really makes me nervous, but I think I am getting better already and I can't wait to improve further!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
I will have more to post soon!

MARINE ANIMAL / BOOK PAGE TURN ANIMATION!! -- S & C curve woo!

Alright guys! Reading week has arrived!! Wow already!!
I have some rough and cleaned up animation to show you!! Yay!!
I have my book page turn and of course the marine animal! -- what animal do you think I did?
I think it is pretty obvious ;)

We could choose to clean up either our book animation or our marine animal. The book gave me a bit of trouble, but I am going to keep practising and hopefully get better :)

Book Page Turn - Rough Animation!

Marine Animal was a LOT of fun! I got to do an awesome background and animate a character!! We will be cleaning it up in digital tools, so I will re-upload a video in which the rough animation goes into the clean then into the coloured version!

One more cool thing to show you guys...

Panned Background!

One of the cool things about this project was doing the panned background! My teacher Michel Hannan really loved it, and she decided to make my background a "pre-set" for next year - meaning if anyone doesn't have time to make a background, they can use mine! So cool! So honoured!!

I hope you enjoyed this post! We had a lot due this week - hands and feet, life drawing portfolio, animation! Wow!
I had great time management and didn't stress too much!
I have to get going to work now, but I shall post stuff over the week as I get things done!

I also have a doctors appointment for my wrist/hand, so hopefully that will be fixed soon!

Have a great weekend!

Hands & Feet Portfolio

So on the first week of school we were assigned a hands and feet portfolio. This portfolio was to consist of 12 hands and 12 feet, and it is due on Thursday of this week! I am glad I started right away because by the time it took to put it all together, I actually had more than enough drawings to choose from.

Lots of stuff due this week.. and exams.. *so tired*
I hope you enjoy!!

PS. Will be posting animation soon!!

Layout Render - Character in an Environment!

Hey guys! I finally have some layout to show you! The teacher we have is very funny and nice, and you can tell he knows what he is doing.. the problem is he is very vague, so everyone in our year is just hoping we are handing in the right thing!
Anyways here is the final render and all of the steps I took to complete it! I hope you like it!!

Some initial idea sketches
Another idea (from inside the sub)

Planning and griding out the layout!
Thanks for reading! I will upload my storyboard work tomorrow, I forgot I got it back from the teacher!
See you then!

Some more Life drawing

Due to doing lots of other work, I haven't made it to extra life for a while. I will go tonight to fix this!

With life drawing, I have really fantastic days, and not so good days. Last week was good, this week... not so much. We were getting a project back that apparently not many people did well on.. so I was very nervous all class and found it hard to concentrate on the model.  I got a B so I am okay with that, I hope I can do better next time!

Anyways here are some life drawings!
