How to Train Your Dragon -- Diving into Fan Art!

So many people have told me to do fan art... so I finally did. With the trailers out for How to Train your dragon 2, as well as my slight obsession with the app game "DragonVale" on my ipod touch... it just seemed like a good place to start! 

This was also inspired by Alanna and Katherine, who are both talented friends of mine (and future roomies). They have been doing a lot of digital art recently to sell prints at a convention, including some httyd stuff, which made me want to draw some toothless :)

This was a fairly fast drawing, only a couple of hours, and most of the time was spent figuring out what to draw!!
Anyways, its 3AM again... I need to start sleeping a little earlier!

Harbour concept

I have had a fever for a few days, and it has been pretty crappy, I haven't been in the mood to do anything. This morning I had to draw, so I did a quick concept layout of a harbour. (I really like the cat holding the fish)
This was a really quick drawing, looking at a computer is making my headache worse unfortunately, and I have to go to work very soon -- I don't know how I am going to pull off customer service today hahaha

It was a Photoshop kind of night!

 So tonight I suppose I felt like drawing!! Did a quick sketch of a ginger girl, then decided I wanted to update my facebook profile picture, and I was fuelled with my excitement for school this fall. As most of you know I was finally accepted into Sheridan's Animation program!! The wait is killing me, I just want to get started!! My friend Holly has also been asking forever for a sketch so the final drawing is of her :)

A lot of my doodles lately have been spirit oriented. Its fun because you can do just about anything with the concept of a spirit, they can appear like almost anything, size shape colour... its pretty open ended! I think I am going to continue doing digital sketches like this, and maybe do a more time consuming finished photoshop painting some day!

Creature of the Forest

 

This is inspired by a contest on threadless (a very cool t-shirt website) to create a shirt inspired by the creatures of the forest... I may have taken it a little too literally. Here is my creature of the forest, he has become the earth the trees and even a home for some animals..

I am pretty happy with how it came out!Sorry for the lack of posts this summer by the way, I am working practically full time! Which is great for money, and also not so great for the tiredness!
In my free time I have been apartment hunting, and stressing out about moving soon, new job, new school, my parents are moving away etc.
